for anyone interested: I've got panfrost (WIP free driver for some mali graphics chips) building on my rk3399 chromebook. It's not working yet, the kernel driver isn't playing along or something, but it's exciting anyway :D

I’m following along in #panfrost. Can I `nix-build` it to play with it on my Kevin?
<sphalerite>
just building in nix-shell currently, but I should be able to whack together an expression
<sphalerite>
I'll do that, since I'm not getting any progress on the ioctl issue just now, and maybe PR it to your repo :)

amazing, by the time the rk3399 board I bought ships, everything will be readily working :D
<samueldr>
AFAIUI other than the chrome-specific hardware, everything else should work about the same
<sphalerite>
samueldr: weeeeell panfrost isn't readily working yet, not even upstream ;)
<samueldr>
by the time :)

hmmmm so I've got panfrost built, once using nix-shell and once in a proper expression
<sphalerite>
and the two versions behave differently D:
<samueldr>
oh no, I searched the codenams of the three "gru" boards I know of on google
<samueldr>
not sure I appreciate those codenames
<sphalerite>
got a problem with minions?
<samueldr>
to be fair, I have never been in contact with their franchise EXCEPT for their yellow pill things invading every aspect of society for a small while
<samueldr>
so I can't say for sure if the attention is warranted or if it's only what I perceive it as: an annoying and hard do decipher fad
<samueldr>
you see, I didn't know they had identities until now
<sphalerite>
lol
<samueldr>
I thought they were all shapeless blobs "the minions"
<sphalerite>
they're silly and kind of cute. What's not to like?
<samueldr>
not sure!
<sphalerite>
overuse I guess
<samueldr>
yeah, over-commercialization and such
<samueldr>
and maybe confounded by the whole thing happening seemingly from nowhere (despicable me is a kid's movie, right?)
<sphalerite>
yes
<sphalerite>
fun light entertainment for adult kids too though :p
