If I can ask such a question in this channel :)
<andi->
randomname: just works(tm)
<andi->
I have been running intel + NVIDIA for a while, switched to an AMD gpu because of mainline kernel support.. works just as well. There have been people running AMD CPUs.. I'd say x86 is just working unless you do esotheric stuff :-)
<randomname>
Ryzen APU is a good choice? :)
<samueldr>
generally nixos will have as good support as any mainline-using distros
<randomname>
Okay, thanks!
<samueldr>
(it's also the main limiting factor in out-of-the box support on those aarch64 and other ARM platforms)
<samueldr>
(armv6/7 also being limited by the lack of a complete binary cache due to lack of building infra)
<randomname>
If arm wasn't so diverse :(
<samueldr>
if implementors were better at upstreaming :/
<randomname>
:/
<randomname>
To be honest, x86 and arm are both nonfree architectures. Too bad we can't buy something on risc v or something like that.
<andi->
you can it just costs more :-)
<randomname>
probably it will be implemented on fpga or something like that :)
