LnL: is there a way to integrate nixops with nix-darwin? E.g. let me spin up a ec2 instance and add it to the distributed machines build, once it's there?

<johnw>
well, I can build my GHC 8.2 environment now
<johnw>
but still 31 failures to go to build everything in my nix-config

<johnw>
ok, those fixed
<johnw>
now the world is rebuilding for some reason
<johnw>
so, will be a while till I get final results
<johnw>
my /nix/store is now almost 400G
<LnL>
:o
<LnL>
yeah, my hydra is also rebuilding or at least fetching new stuff
<johnw>
ghc-8.2.2 takes SO LONG
<johnw>
like, a sizeable percantage of the total time overall
<johnw>
it's been going now for at least 3 hours
<LnL>
yeah, ghc takes a while
<LnL>
and it looks like somebody started a haskellPackages.aeson build with ofborg :p

<dhess>
johnw: LnL: does this mean there's finally a fix in master for the "too many arguments" issue?
<johnw>
not that I know of
<johnw>
I had to use strictDeps in several places
<dhess>
oh :(
<LnL>
no
<dhess>
I haven't gotten that desperate yet.
<dhess>
to go and make a bunch of strictDeps fixes
<LnL>
the cause is still only partially clear to me
<dhess>
what a PITA
<dhess>
I'm all for cross-compiler support but jesus this sucks for macOS users.
<johnw>
yeah
<johnw>
Getting The Shaft is our motto
<dhess>
hehehe
<dhess>
we should take the Nix Darwin logo, with the platypus holding the pitchfork, and turn the pitchfork into a shaft.
<LnL>
so every solution proposed so far seems like a workaround for another problem, that's why there's some pushback from a couple of members
<LnL>
I get that setup hooks run 2 times because of cross changes, but I don't understand how 6+ duplicates end up in the lookup paths
