<Profpatsch>
This media wiki stuff is the first time in a while that I anxiously copy my new text before I hit “save”, because I’m afraid the pile-of-shitsoftware is going to throw it away.
<Profpatsch>
e.g. the login has a fucking timeout, and when that happens while the editor is still open and you hit save, your inputs are lost.

Welcome to 2004
<makefu>
mic921: maybe, if you've hacked something together we can migrate the current wiki to a declarative config.
<andi->
what was the reason against a markdown based wiki rendered from a git repository?
<makefu>
andi-: the initial reason is that there was no wiki with the requirements we had (primarily templates, github sign-in)
<makefu>
the wiki was hosted on github just before that but it was lacking of a lot of features
<makefu>
sweet! fadenb, maybe you can have a look at this. Where is the current backup of the pages? is it already automated?
<mic921>
makefu: I think what you can always do is exporting the pages.
<mic921>
Getting images out is sometimes a hassel
<mic921>
The safest thing is too take a database dump though
<mic921>
makefu: what is your plan? Having a mirror?
<makefu>
the plan would be to slowly migrate from stateful config to stateless and have the database dump available at some central location in case fadenb gets driven over by a bus
<makefu>
that way we could also continue working on the deployment, create PRs and such
