I feel networking is something I'd have to really have a good reason to learn it, like a job where I needed to know it
<gchristensen>
and I haven't had that before
<cransom>
it's burnt well into my memory those pitfalls. some commercial gear supports that behavior but it's still weird on how you have to set up firewall rules on it to allow it
<cransom>
but to make that work internally, you need your own layer4 proxy to bounce it around or some some more nat rules.

and then things like dns horizons come into play if you are desparate or want to use all the levers you have.
<gchristensen>
ok, thanks cransom, that was it :)
<gchristensen>
hah
<gchristensen>
I really like split-horizon DNS...
<cransom>
they are the force. they can be used for good or to murder entire schools of young padowans.
<gchristensen>
:D

sorry gchristensen, I wasn't around a computer tonight. Seems like you got it figured out though :)
