<JJJollyjim> i love magit to death, but its slowness on nixpkgs is killing me :/
<JJJollyjim> any tips for mitigating that?
<wedens[m]> what is slow exactly?
<JJJollyjim> bringing up magit-status, or pretty much any other operation (i think anything that redraws the main status screen, like staging a file)
<JJJollyjim> it's more usable on my desktop than my laptop, idk if that's for cpu reaons or a better ssd
<wedens[m]> huh, magit-status takes 1-2s to open even on my old laptop with hdd
<wedens[m]> you can try hiding unused sections from magit
<wedens[m]> magit-section-initial-visibility-alist
<JJJollyjim> seems like any operation hangs emacs for ~8 seconds on my laptop :/
<JJJollyjim> ah nice
<wedens[m]> unpulled/unpushed can be slow
<JJJollyjim> hmm i wonder if there's optimization room there
<JJJollyjim> git log -n 256 takes 0.4 seconds
<JJJollyjim> which should be a similar operation right?
<JJJollyjim> (i think it's showing 256 unpulled)
<JJJollyjim> oh unpushede
<JJJollyjim> but yeah
<JJJollyjim> thanks
<wedens[m]> I'm not sure if it affects just visibility or also prevents unnecesary logic from happening
