Profpatsch: I read the manuals, intensively. And I just took on projects that forced me to use nix, and compromised several of my systems causing myself distress :D

I quickly learned that where the docs were limited I just had to look inside nixpkgs to find what I want

and doing that I was able to move a lot faster, plus the help of basically everyone in IRC to just be able to use my computers

as someone learning nixos right now I think my experience is pretty similar to yours

I've just gone all in and switched my systems. If I need something I try package it or make a module or whatever by searching awkwardly through the pills, the three manuals, and mostly copying and trying to understand packages similar to what I'm trying to do in nixpkgs

reading through packages and watching presentations have been the best resources for me

I personally learn primarally by creating/projects, so it's like "what do I need to learn to be able to create x" and slowly accumulate knowledge that actually allows me to use the thing in the way it should work for me. Yep Dandellion I'd have to say it was pretty much the same, presentations were high points and I'm glad more of them are being made
