<IdleBot_b5116448> So, what is the locale Mailman is running under?

<IdleBot_b5116448> I wonder if it would be in-scope for SpectrumOS to integrate some of the access confirmation/anti-tampering measures I use in my current system…
<IdleBot_b5116448> Tried to git clone the list archives; the provided repository URL does not work (and it is unclear why would I want 0.git _locally_)
<IdleBot_b5116448> Re: Raptor: I noticed some discussion about their warrant canary having probably expired…
<IdleBot_b5116448> Re: Mailman and Mail.ru: I actually got a human reply about the mailing list letters, and they correctly remark that spectrum-os.org lacks SPF (bad), and yeah, the eternal DKIM problem in the mailing lists
<IdleBot_b5116448> I also notice Mailman is not configured to set Sender:
<Shell> that was removed as a feature in Mailman3 at some point, I recall.
<Shell> https://tools.ietf.org/html/rfc8617 there's this lovely new experimental protocol that is meant to make mailing lists work again, but it largely depends on the receiving mail server trusting the mailing list server in the first place.
<Shell> in theory, the solution is for the mailing list software to not modify the subject or body, and to just add List-ID and List-Unsubscribe headers. then in theory it'd pass DMARC and everyone would be happy-ish.
<IdleBot_b5116448> Yeah, that does not help that much
<qyliss> Shell: can you remember why we didn't do SPF?
<qyliss> I will make it not modify the subject, though.
<qyliss> So that DKIM should still work.
<IdleBot_b5116448> Without Sender: SPF will not help you too much
<Shell> qyliss: uhh... I can't exactly remember. it seemed like there wasn't much of a point if we couldn't do DMARC, maybe?
<qyliss> IdleBot_b5116448: yeah, I think I'll have to ask mailman-users about Sender
<qyliss> I asked on IRC a while ago but didn't get an answer
<qyliss> IdleBot_b5116448: you're right about the list archives not being clonable. I'll try to fix that.
<qyliss> Fwiw, once it works you should be able to clone all.git.
<qyliss> It would be nice if the web interface to public-inbox told you that, but I have two patches I need to send to p-i already.
<IdleBot_b5116448> DKIM without DMARC absolutely has a point
<qyliss> Shell was talking about SPF
<Shell> I cannot remember the details at all
<Shell> if someone can come up with an SPF record and explain why it works, go for it :p
