Not ultra-happy with that edit but at least it contains everything needs to get to a usable screen sharing setup

fadenb: does chromium works with wayland yet?
<Mic92>
If that works, I will do the switch
<fadenb>
I did not test it properly (trying hard to get rid of it :p) but at least there was the usual select what you want to share popup
<fadenb>
I still need to test screen sharing from electron applications, almost forgot that🙈
<piegames>
Mic92: Nope, it doesn't
<piegames>
> As of 2020-12-15, it is only possible to share a whole screen (rather than choosing which window to share).

Maybe 2021 is the year of wayland on my desktop
<piegames>
fadenb: Pretty sure I got Firefox+Wayland+Gnome share a single window last time I tried
<fadenb>
I (and apparently the others in the linked pr) can only select the whole screen in the drop down. Perhaps it's a gnome thing that makes it possible?
<fadenb>
I was using plain sway
<piegames>
fadenb: Screen sharing capabilities are pretty much dependent on the Wayland compositor used, yes.
<piegames>
Not 100% sure, but I think this is a Sway limitation and not a Firefox or Wayland one.
<piegames>
hexa-: Did you get window screen sharing to work under Sway? ^
<hexa->
piegames: no
<hexa->
I think wlroots does not support that yet
<hexa->
Mic92: use_ozone variable I believe
<Mic92>
hexa-: let me know if it does
<hexa->
fadenb: gnome uses a different portal than wlroots based thingies
<hexa->
Mic92: not a chrom* user
<Mic92>
hexa-: most of the time I try to avoid it too, but the number of applications not supporting firefox grows.
