I could have sworn somebody was just working on that in #nixos only a day or two ago. But my sense of date is poor these days.

FWIW if someone wants a workaround, using rust-analyzer from nixpkgs does work, though it's not the same version as rustc so may have a different behavior wrt. which features are on/off
