<loyon[m]>
hello there, I'm trying to run nixos-aarch64 inside qemu (on a x64 host), the idea being to prototype and doing development without requiring the usage of a raspberry pi. I try to adapt tutorial I found online for debian or ubuntu but no luck so far. Is this doable? any pointer on how to do it? thanks :)
<loyon[m]>
(I was able to run the official rasbian image using qemu, but simply swapping the image with one for nixos did not work as iiuc they are not using the same kernel)
<fps>
keep in mind though that this is probably quite different from the raspberry pi in the end
<fps>
it might be useful to get used to the nix way of building the image and using it
<fps>
arm SoC boards in general have quite a bit of variability between them and individual quirks
<loyon[m]>
this is wonderful fps! I totally missed that QEMU subpage it is the missing piece :) ... yes indeed, I plan to do testing periodically on a real board to be sure I'm not missing something.
<loyon[m]>
that is exactly that, we what to use it to get used to building image, etc...
