<gchristensen> hardware update: we'll probably get more :)
<tilpner> Huh, should people be able to add queries to status.nixos.org/prometheus?
<gchristensen> you should be able to execute any query
<tilpner> Oh, so that's intended
<gchristensen> is there a reason you shouldn't be able to?
<tilpner> I'm not sure. Is anything else running on that machine? There might be queries with terrible performance
<gchristensen> grafana
<tilpner> So nothing sensitive, then I guess it wouldn't hurt much if someone was to spam it with expensive queries

<gchristensen> oh damn
<gchristensen> new aarch64 hardware ^
<samueldr> the only 46 core SOC
<samueldr> (listed)
<gchristensen> "only" you're so picky!
<samueldr> no, not "only 46" "THE only 46-core"
<gchristensen> ohhh
<gchristensen> :D
<samueldr> so if you wanted to hide what it was... sorry :)
<gchristensen> nope
<samueldr> (it annoys me how cpuinfo for arm always is empty)
<gchristensen> got a confirmation from vielmetti that "the Qualcomm NDAs are expired"
Thra11 has quit [Ping timeout: 245 seconds]
<samueldr> looks to be aarch64-only (not an issue, but to keep in mind)

<samueldr> hmmmmmmmmmmmm
<gchristensen> dang, nixos-install didn't work out of the box :P
<samueldr> an AMI bios probably means UEFI, so grub?
<gchristensen> oh
<gchristensen> whoa now
<gchristensen> I was just impatient
<gchristensen> it was still doing iPXE on all its interfaces, but I thought it was in a fail-loop
<samueldr> oh, the usual servers are slow?
<gchristensen> yeah
<gchristensen> lol
<gchristensen> this is hilariously amazing
<clever> that reminds me, i had endless problems with netboot, due to SPAN on my switch
<clever> the switch, would not enable a port until ~30 seconds after it came up, since it was checking for loops in the LAN
<samueldr> I can probably boot to X my slowest aarch64 SBC in the time my desktop workstation POSTs...
<gchristensen> lol
<clever> the bios, would timeout after ~15 seconds, and then hard-reset the machine
<clever> which resets the ethernet link
<clever> so it just never booted
<gchristensen> samueldr: want to poke at this machine a bit?
<samueldr> not sure there's much I can do that'd be useful
<samueldr> looks bog standard :)
<samueldr> your usual 46 core aarch64
<gchristensen> the usual

<samrose> a question: right now I am using an overlay with modules to customize my hydra-built iso. If I want to create a custom package and include it in the same iso, this didn't seem to fit well in a module. Where is a good home for custom packages?
<gchristensen> I manage my custom packages by defining them in an overlay
