Hey folks, anyone knows what version of macOS are the hydra builders using ? is it on Mojave already ?
<LnL>
doesn't matter the cache works for 10.14
<LnL>
just make sure you're not using an old version of nix/nixpkgs that didn't support it yet
<aminechikhaoui>
LnL just asking to know if everything is working fine. So that I do the same for the builders of our private hydra
<LnL>
I don't think the builders are on 10.14, but it should be fine
<LnL>
the only potential issue would be that they build some things with features that are not available on older versions
<aminechikhaoui>
LnL hm what kind of features
<LnL>
there are some impurities on darwin
<gchristensen>
they're not running mojave
<LnL>
we try to avoid them as much as possible, but in some cases like frameworks we don't have a choicee
<LnL>
that means if a package is built on 10.14 might find and use functions from a framework that are not available on older versions
<aminechikhaoui>
right that's exactly the kind of issues I'm trying to avoid :)
<gchristensen>
I think they're running 1013
<aminechikhaoui>
but I think it's fine for my case, as I can force people to just upgrade to Mojave. I'll test a builder first and will see
<gchristensen>
10.13
<aminechikhaoui>
ok cool
<LnL>
you probably won't run into it except for things that wouldn't build on an older version anyway
<LnL>
this is exactly the reason why we use a shim for Libsystem
<aminechikhaoui>
gchristensen btw since you're here, you were able to spin up macOS vms from nixos right ?
<gchristensen>
yea
<LnL>
it basically hides everything that wouldn't be available on an older version making it possible to build binaries that still work on older versions
<aminechikhaoui>
any pointers on how to do it
<gchristensen>
sure
<gchristensen>
ehh
<gchristensen>
what is your timeline? :) can it wait 1wk+
<gchristensen>
1wk?
<aminechikhaoui>
sure :)
<gchristensen>
great, post-surgery I'll commit all my stuff and push
<LnL>
oh! the enpass firefox extention works on nixos now
<aminechikhaoui>
gchristensen thanks :)
