<pikajude> adv_cmds recently (?) incurred a dependency on boost which depends on gfortran
<pikajude> through xcbuild
<pikajude> when did that happen
<pikajude> actually I guess not
<pikajude> I'm just not getting the binary cache because something else changed

<pikajude> hm...
<pikajude> the libsecurity_utilities build was broken by 06fa8674984e8ab637a29b91bdaa11dc5cbacb80 17 days ago
<pikajude> but somehow i haven't been affected by it until now?
<pikajude> hmm
<LnL> there's not much that depends on that I think
<pikajude> yeah, i'm trying to track down what specifically does
<pikajude> because it's biting me in the ass
<pikajude> i think it's a haskell package that requires security tool

<flokli> pikajude: I checked before the git merge that broke some checksums. Tests were fine back then...
<pikajude> probably an issue with my machine, then
<flokli> But yeah, they take a loooong time.
<flokli> I tried using the darwin vagrant box
<pikajude> how do we override derivations now?
<pikajude> in present day nix
<pikajude> I've gone and forgotte
<pikajude> wasn't there something like `extend` that we use now
<pikajude> oh, apparently overrideDerivation is now a plain old attr on derivations rather than being part of stdenv.lib? that's handy
<pikajude> too bad that i can't use the hydra cache for anything git related :(
<pikajude> actually, maybe i can just wait for the build to succeed there
<pikajude> https://hydra.nixos.org/build/76473759 has the same hash as mine, i'll have to keep an eye on it
<pikajude> my build which is broken, that is

<Lisanna> For some reason whenever I add my local user account as a trusted user, I can't perform nixops deploys to my linux machines anymore. All attempts to deploy fails with "/nix/store/zqh3l3lyw32q1ayb15bnvg9f24j5v2p0-bash-4.4-p12/bin/bash: /nix/store/zqh3l3lyw32q1ayb15bnvg9f24j5v2p0-bash-4.4-p12/bin/bash: cannot execute binary file" whenever it tries to build one of the needed text files

<clever> Lisanna: are there any arm or darwin machines in play?
<Lisanna> clever yes, I deploy from darwin to linux
<Lisanna> nixops deploy --option system "x86_64-linux"
<Lisanna> Normally when I'm not a trusted user that works
<Lisanna> but i I am a trusted user it tries to build the config files and stuff locally using the linux versions of bash
<clever> Lisanna: are you doing import <nixpkgs> {} at any point in your expressions?
<Lisanna> clever yeah, I think so
<clever> that defaults to darwin
<clever> you have to set system in that expression
<Lisanna> oh damn
<Lisanna> clever can the system be set after importing with the default arguments?
<clever> nope
<Lisanna> bah
<clever> the default is the same arch as the nix that is reading the nix expressions
<Lisanna> ok
<Lisanna> hmm, I fixed that, but it still seems to be happening
<Lisanna> at the top of my nixops expression I'm making sure the nixpkgs is imported with x86_64-linux
<Lisanna> it's 'import <nixpkgs> { system = "x86_64-linux"; }' right?
<Lisanna> I still need to set --option system x86_64-linux because of an assertion in the kernel package
<Lisanna> because the eval still happens on my darwin machine
