Using the policies.json file, with a patch for FF that loads policies.json from the profile, which enables doing SOO many things with pretty much, no hacking

It's just a little program that reads some data from the rest api that mozilla offers and builds a nix file from it.

But basically rycee , a patch to firefox and then using policies.json for actually instally extensions etc. - which I think is more stable and actually a supported method :p Because as far as I know, the current method is somewhat sideloading them, which they do not want

I think it would be! I have taken the current module and modified it, the only real problem is, that patching FF requires a recompile. So we need to upstream the patch into NixOS some way, else it is unuseable :/
